Position: Chef de Cuisine 

Location: Kaimuki, HI

Pay: $38.46 to $40.87/hour

Experience: Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or in a comparable senior kitchen leadership role.

Education: AOS Culinary Arts degree or equivalent culinary training required.

Type: Full-time; Temp-to-hire

Schedule: Flexible scheduling required, including weekends and holidays to accommodate business levels.

Staffing Solutions of Hawaii is seeking a Chef de Cuisine to join a growing and dynamic team!   

Job Description:  

1. Oversee high-volume food production, ensuring quality, consistency, efficiency, and professionalism.
2. Develop, edit, and implement menus, recipes, and new food service programs.
3. Manage food costing, menu mix, labor budgets, inventory, and overall kitchen expenses.
4. Maintain kitchen sanitation standards and ensure compliance with safe food handling practices.
5. Manage order guides, master prep lists, shrink logs, and other kitchen control systems.
6. Hire, train, coach, counsel, and evaluate cooks, kitchen helpers, and department staff.
7. Create and manage kitchen staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient labor utilization.
8. Monitor food quality, production standards, portion control, and waste reduction.
9. Maintain accurate kitchen records and utilize spreadsheets, databases, and word-processing programs for administrative tasks.
10. Maintain regular, predictable attendance and demonstrate flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.

Position Requirements:    

1. Knowledge of food service sanitation and safe food handling practices.
2. Experience hiring, training, coaching, counseling, and conducting performance evaluations for kitchen staff.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and general office equipment.
4. Strong knowledge of food costing, menu mix, menu engineering, labor budgeting, and inventory control.
5. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
6. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.
7. Reliable, regular, and predictable attendance required.
